AKCP Isolated DC Current Sensor (IDCV00) – Precise and safe DC voltage monitoring

AKCP Isolated DC Sensor (IDCV00)

Monitoring of direct current voltages plays a crucial role in data centers, UPS systems, solar installations, and industrial applications. The AKCP Isolated DC Sensor IDCV00 has been specially developed to combine precise measurement with maximum safety. With its galvanic isolation up to 1600 V, it provides reliable protection against overvoltage and leakage currents – a significant advantage over non-isolated sensors.

Excellent Measurement Accuracy

The sensor supports two freely selectable measurement ranges:

  • -60 V to +60 V DC
  • -5 V to +5 V DC

With a resolution of 0.001 V and an accuracy of approximately 1% of full scale, the sensor is suitable for precise measurements even in sensitive installations. The high input impedance of up to 1.6 MΩ ensures minimal load on the monitored circuit.

Safety Through Galvanic Isolation

The galvanic separation effectively isolates the measuring system from the monitored circuits. As a result, disturbances and hazards such as short circuits or overvoltage are reliably prevented. With insulation up to 1600 V, the IDCV00 meets high safety demands for electrical and IT infrastructures.

Easy Installation

The IDCV00 is compact (65 × 62 × 15 mm) and allows flexible installation:

  • Mounting on DIN rail or by screw fixing
  • RJ45 interface via CAT5e or CAT6 cable
  • Cable length up to 18 m
  • Power supply directly from the AKCP base unit
  • No separate power adapter required

Integration and Connectivity

The sensor is automatically detected and configured by AKCP devices via AutoSense. Through the web interface of sensorProbe or securityProbe systems, limit values and alarm parameters can be defined. Thanks to SNMP support, seamless integration into common network monitoring platforms is possible: Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix, IBM Tivoli, OpenNMS, WhatsUp Gold, etc.

Alarm Functions

When defined threshold values are exceeded, administrators are automatically notified:

  • Email notifications
  • SMS or MMS alerts (via GSM/LTE modules)
  • SNMP traps to higher-level systems
  • Visual and audible alarms via optional components

Typical Applications

  • Battery systems and UPS units: DC voltage monitoring to prevent battery failures
  • Solar systems: Monitoring of PV installations and DC wiring
  • Data centers: Securing redundant power paths and DC power supply
  • Industrial processes: Monitoring DC systems and machine control
  • Medical technology and laboratories: Voltage monitoring in sensitive environments

AKCP Isolated DC Current Sensor IDCV00
For remote monitoring of DC voltages with the network-based sensorProbe and securityProbe alarm servers, AKCP has designed an isolated model of the DC current sensor. This isolated DC current sensor features a reinforced housing that provides enhanced protection against short circuits or overvoltage compared to the conventional AKCP DC current sensor.

The AKCP DC current sensor offers impressive technical features that make it a reliable tool for DC voltage monitoring. The sensor can measure DC voltages in two configurable ranges: from -60 to +60 VDC or from -5 to +5 VDC. The resolution is a precise 0.001 V with an accuracy of 1% full scale.
