AKCP Spot Water Sensor (WSxx) – Precise water leak detection for IT and industrial environments

AKCP Spot Water Sensor (WSxx)

Water leaks are among the biggest threats to data centers, server rooms, industrial facilities, and research institutions. Even small amounts of moisture can cause short circuits, equipment failures, and enormous consequential costs. The AKCP Spot Water Sensor (WSxx) is a reliable solution for early detection of water and conductive liquids. Thanks to its capacitive microprocessor technology, it can also detect distilled or deionized water—something many conventional leakage sensors cannot do.

Robust Technology for Reliable Operation

The water sensor continuously monitors even the smallest amounts of liquid in real time. When detection occurs, an alarm is immediately triggered and transmitted to the AKCP monitoring system. It is ideally suited for:

  • Water leaks under raised floors in data centers
  • Condensation formation in air conditioning systems
  • Leakage from faulty UPS batteries
  • Leaks in pipes, coolant lines, or sprinkler systems

Technical Features

  • Technology: capacitive microprocessor detection for conductive and deionized liquids
  • Dimensions: 55 × 39 × 27 mm (compact)
  • Mounting: screw mounting for tight spaces (e.g., under server cabinets)
  • Connection: RJ45 via Cat5e/6 cable
  • Cable lengths: 1.5 m, optional 4.5 m, 12 m, 18 m
  • Maximum cable extension: up to 150 m
  • Power supply: directly from the AKCP sensorProbe / securityProbe base unit
  • Status indicators: LED (operation & water detection)

Integration into AKCP Monitoring Systems

Integration is automatic thanks to the AutoSense function. Once connected, the sensor is immediately visible in the web interface of sensorProbe or securityProbe controllers. Individual alarm thresholds can be configured for specific alert settings.

Alarm and Monitoring

Alarm notifications are triggered in case of leakage or interruption as follows:

  • Email notifications
  • SMS/MMS (in combination with GSM/4G gateway)
  • SNMP traps (for NMS systems such as Nagios, PRTG, Zabbix, OpenNMS, WhatsUp Gold)
  • Relay actions (e.g., activation of pumps or emergency shutdowns)
  • Visual and audible alarms with sirens or strobe lights

Key Features

  • Detection of distilled or deionized water
  • Compact design for unobtrusive installation
  • AutoSense detection ensures plug-and-play integration
  • Status LED for activity and leak indication
  • SNMP OID integration for network monitoring
  • Long-term reporting and trend analysis via AKCPro Server

Applications

  • Data centers & server rooms: early leak warning for critical hardware
  • Production facilities: protection against liquid damage to machinery
  • Warehouses & logistics centers: safeguarding stored goods
  • Research & medical sectors: protection of sensitive equipment
  • Refrigeration systems: securing freezers, cooling cells, climate chambers

Economic Efficiency

Investment in an AKCP Spot Water Sensor protects against costly water damage: unplanned downtime, data loss, and repairs are prevented. Through automated interfaces to pumps or emergency shutdowns, it further contributes to preventive risk management.

Advantages of the AKCP Spot Water Sensor

  • Early detection of small amounts of water
  • Detection of deionized/distilled water
  • Compact housing, flexible installation
  • Cable lengths up to 150 m possible
  • SNMP integration with existing IT management systems
  • Alerts via email, SMS, and SNMP traps
  • AutoSense detection for quick setup
  • Extended alarm chains with siren/strobe light
  • Cost-effective solution with high reliability
  • Suitable for IT, industrial, research, and logistics environments

The AKCP Spot Water Sensor (WSxx) is a high-precision solution for reliable water and liquid detection in critical infrastructures. With capacitive sensing, AutoSense plug-and-play, and SNMP compatibility, it effectively enhances any monitoring platform.

Whether in server rooms, data centers, industrial plants, research facilities, or logistics environments—the Spot Sensor is an essential tool to prevent costly water damage early.

AKCP Water Sensor

AKCP Water Sensor
The AKCP Water Sensor, also known as WSxx Spot Water Sensor, was specially developed for the reliable detection of water and water-containing liquids in sensitive areas. It is ideally suited for IT infrastructures such as data centers, server rooms, research facilities, production sites, or logistics centers, where even small amounts of moisture can cause significant damage.

A water leak caused by heavy rain, burst pipes, defective air-conditioning units, or sprinkler systems can lead to system failures, data loss, or short circuits within a short time. The situation becomes particularly critical when distilled water, such as that from faulty UPS batteries, escapes—since it is not detected by many sensors. However, the AKCP Water Sensor also detects deionized water, made possible by its capacitive microprocessor technology.
