AKCP securityProbe5ES-X20 – Advanced monitoring solution with 20 dry contacts
AKCP securityProbe5ES-X20
The AKCP securityProbe5ES-X20 expands the successful SecurityProbe series with an additional 20 dry contact inputs and provides administrators with a powerful monitoring solution for demanding IT and industrial environments. It is designed for operators who require a combination of server room monitoring, data center supervision, infrastructure monitoring, and physical security. With up to 500 intelligent sensors and additional dry contacts, the X20 is a future-proof system for environmental, power, and security monitoring applications.
As a standalone alarm server, the securityProbe5ES-X20 operates completely autonomously. It detects and reports events such as temperature fluctuations, humidity, smoke, power loss, or unauthorized access in real time, allowing immediate response. Thanks to its versatility, it can be deployed not only in traditional IT infrastructures but also in industrial environments, telecom facilities, and high-security buildings.
Building on the proven SecurityProbe5ES platform, the X20 model adds 20 additional dry contact inputs, which can be flexibly assigned to fire alarms, HVAC systems, access control, or UPS status contacts. Each contact can switch between standard mode (up to 5 V DC) and opto-isolated mode (up to 40 V DC), allowing safe operation in environments with voltage variations or industrial control systems.
Designed for continuous 24/7 operation, the unit performs reliably in demanding environments. By supporting open protocols such as encrypted SNMPv3, Modbus TCP/IP, and HTTPS, the securityProbe5ES-X20 integrates seamlessly with existing IT and facility management systems.
Hardware Platform and Construction
- i.MX25 processor (energy-efficient design)
- 128 MB NAND Flash, 128 MB SDRAM
- SD slot supporting up to 16 GB storage
- 1U rackmount design with mounting brackets
- Dimensions: 17.08 × 5.43 × 1.80 inches, Weight: approx. 2.6 kg
- Power consumption: approx. 6.15 W
- MTBF: over 400,000 hours
Sensor Integration and Scalability
Eight RJ-45 sensor ports allow direct connection of AKCP intelligent sensors. Typical examples include:
- Temperature sensors, including thermocouples for extreme ranges
- Digital humidity sensors
- Smoke and particulate sensors
- Water and leak sensors with localization function
- PIR motion detectors, door/window contacts
- Vibration and glass-break sensors
- AC/DC current sensors
With expansion modules such as E-Sensor8 or E-Opto16, the system scales up to 500 sensors. AutoSense technology detects sensors automatically, enabling true plug-and-play integration for administrators.
Extended Dry Contact Integration
The 20 additional dry contacts are the defining feature of the X20 model. Example applications include:
- Integration of external fire detection systems
- Connection to HVAC and ventilation controllers
- UPS and power failure notifications
- Access and door monitoring contacts
- Alarm buttons and security circuits
Each of the 20 inputs can be individually configured and assigned within alarm escalation chains. This makes the system ideal for organizations with combined IT and facility infrastructures seeking centralized monitoring of all signals from a single platform.
Network and Protocol Support
- SNMP v1, v2c, and v3 (encrypted)
- HTTPS with SSL encryption
- Telnet, PHP, Perl, and Bash scripting support
- Modbus TCP/IP, RTU, and Master/Slave functionality
- SMTP for email alert delivery
- Optional GSM/3G/4G modem for SMS, MMS, and telephone alerts
The securityProbe5ES-X20 can also function as a Modbus-to-SNMP gateway, allowing easy integration into SCADA and industrial automation systems.
User Interface
Powered by PHP, the web-based interface offers a clear, structured layout. Administrators can visualize sensor readings, configure alarms, manage users, and select interface languages. RRD graphing is used to display historical sensor data over hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly intervals, which can also be exported for use in capacity planning or predictive maintenance.
Alarm Management and False Alarm Filtering
- Notifications via email, SMS, MMS, SNMP traps, fax, or telephone calls
- Escalation plans with acknowledgement requirements
- Automated actions such as server shutdowns, relay switching, or FTP uploads
- Rate limiting to control alarm volume per hour
- Scheduled alarms by time of day or weekday
An intelligent filtering system eliminates redundant alerts, such as those caused by frequent room access or recurring events during business hours—reducing alarm fatigue and maintaining focused security response.
Audio Integration
- Internal microphone and speaker
- External analog audio input/output interfaces
- Optional voice playback for alarm announcements
Typical Application Areas
- Data centers: access control, power, HVAC, smoke, and leak detection
- Industrial facilities: Modbus environments and dry contact signal integration
- Telecommunications: remote site monitoring with GSM/4G connectivity
- Server rooms: prevention of overheating, water damage, and unauthorized entry
- Building management: access control, fire protection, and motion detection
